Everything you need to know.
Everything you need to know.
Why are you introducing an ANPR system?
The system is being introduced to prevent non-sangat members from misusing the car park, which reduces the availability of spaces for genuine sangat members.
Why can’t the current system remain as it is?
Following a detailed review of car park usage, we found the following issues:
Some individuals park their cars and head to work, local shops, or the train station.
Some individuals think Park Avenue Gurdwara Carpark belongs to the railway and that any commuter has a right to use it.
Local residents use the Gurdwara car park for personal parking.
In some instances, people even park their cars here for weeks on end and travel to Heathrow Airport for holidays.
The ANPR system will also act a deterrent for any criminal activity.
This misuse significantly reduces the number of spaces available for sangat members. Implementing the ANPR system will ensure that parking remains accessible for those genuinely visiting the Gurdwara.
Did you consult the sangat?
Yes, we received overwhelming support from regular sangat members, who frequently observed the car park being misused by non-Gurdwara visitors.
Why are you the only Gurdwara doing this?
We aren’t. Many Gurdwaras are implementing similar systems or have already implemented such systems to prevent misuse of their car parks.
Will parking be charged?
No, parking will remain free for the sangat.
How long can I park?
You can park for as long as you are visiting the Gurdwara.
How will the system work?
If you park for more than 60 minutes while visiting the Gurdwara, you will need to enter your Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) on the tablets located in the Gurdwara foyer before you leave.
What if I am staying for more than 60 minutes?
If you plan to park for more than 60 minutes, simply enter your VRN into the system before you leave.
What if I am only coming to matha tek and will leave in under 60 minutes?
You won’t have to do anything different.

What if I can’t use a tablet?
We have staff on-site at all times to assist you.
My elderly parents or relatives drive to the Gurdwara and can’t use a tablet.
Not to worry - our sevadars and staff will always be on-site to help.
Will this be like the systems we find at gyms, doctors’ surgeries, or supermarkets?
Yes, it is simple and easy to use.
What about regular visitors who come every day?
If you are a regular sevadar, we will provide details in the coming days to register your vehicle.
What if someone forgets?
We are providing plenty of advance notice, and there will be signage all over the car park to remind visitors.
Who is getting the money?
We conducted a tender process for parking management providers, and selected the one that provided the best value for money to the Sabha. The funds from any PCNs issued go towards covering the cost of the scheme, with a portion going to the Gurdwara to support its charitable purposes. The scheme is not intended to generate revenue but to ensure that the maximum number of spaces is available for sangat members.
What if I believe I got a ticket unfairly? How do I dispute it?
The system is managed by an approved parking management company that adheres to best practices, including a clear process for appealing tickets.
Does this apply to cars only, or motorbikes and mopeds too?
Yes, it applies to any vehicle with a VRN.
I have a wedding or paath; what should I tell my guests, and how will this impact me?
This system will help maximise parking availability for your guests. Signage on-site will remind them to enter their VRN before they leave.
