Why has the route changed?

This years Vaiskahi Nagar Kirtan will be the same length, the only change is that it will start at Park Avenue Gurdwara and finish at Guru Nanak Road Gurdwara.

The route has been adjusted following feedback from the local authority and police service.

It will now be reversed to allow Uxbridge Road to reopen sooner, reducing traffic impact on local residents/businesses and ensuring emergency vehicles can pass through Southall.

The overall route length remains the same, preserving the opportunity for Sangat to listen to Kirtan and have Guru Sahibs Darshan on the Palki Truck.

The Nagar Kirtan will begin at 10:00 AM. This is earlier than previous years. They aim will be to finish at Guru Nanak Road earlier in the day, followed by a Kirtan Darbar.

The event is coordinated by a dedicated Nagar Kirtan Seva Team, consisting of comittee members, volunteers from local Gurdwaras and Sangat from the Sikh community.

The costs are borne by Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall.

We have stewards/security as a legal requirement for the following reasons:

1. Crowd Control & Safety – Prevent overcrowding and ensure safe entry/exit.

2. Emergency Response – Assist in fire, medical, or other emergencies.

3. Guidance & Assistance – Help Sangat members with directions and queries.

4. Security & Conflict Resolution – Prevent disputes and monitor for security threats.

5. Compliance with Regulations – Required for health, safety, and legal permits.

6. First Aid Support – Some stewards are trained to assist until medics arrive.

7. Managing Entry & Exit – Control access and ensure only authorised entry.
