Our adult Punjabi classes spanning 30 weeks are split into three terms of ten weeks each starting from w/c 13 March 2023. Taught by a highly experienced qualified teacher, there are four separate sessions in the week to choose from:

Wednesdays 6-7.30pm

Wednesdays 7.30-9pm

Saturdays 9-10.30am

Saturdays 10.30-11.45am

There is a £30 fee for the course to cover printing costs. Please note this course is heavily subsidised by the Gurdwara for the benefit of the Sangat.

Course overview

Level 1

Learn to read and write the Gurmukhi script. Learn to speak, read and write in the present, past and future. You will be able to introduce yourself, talk about food, weddings, tell the time and discuss hobbies.

Level 2

You will learn to use more complex grammar and cover topics such as travel in Punjab, shopping, rural/city life, Darbar Sahib Amritsar, letter writing  and an in-depth look at wedding customs.

Level 3

This part of the course will be taught primarily in Punjabi and cover complex grammar, literature, film and music. You will learn how to have more in-depth discussions in Punjabi. You will also read higher level texts.
